Exercise Your Face to Look Younger

09/25/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Brent Stevens, is a Kundalini Yoga Instructor at Yogala in Echo Park, Los Angeles. He demonstrates a few facial exercises to help keep men young. Despite age, despite gravity, there are simple, ancient ways you can keep your face looking young without surgery.

Move the Forehead to Exercise Your Face to Look Younger
The first exercise that I want to do with you is a simple movement of the forehead that not only works to eventually strengthen the forehead muscles and reduce the wrinkles, but gives energy to the brain, itself, the frontal lobe. So you simply move the forehead up and down like this. You can close your eyes and just go up and down. It looks a little funny but it’s very good for the brain and the entire forehead. And you can do that for one or two minutes or even longer.

Use Massage to Exercise Your Face to Look Younger
The next one is a simple wrinkling motion of the nose just like a rabbit does, which is good for the sinuses, the nose muscles as well as the brain. The next one I want to show you is simply loosening up some tension in the jaw, with a gentle circular massage on the biggest part of your jaw muscle right here. You want to make a circular motion. Often times, TMJ is the cause of too much tension held throughout the day which leads to grinding the teeth at night. A couple minutes of jaw massage can help to relieve this in yourself.

Release Tension to Exercise Your Face to Look Younger
The next one is another jaw exercise where you can roll the jaw around in circles almost like a cow. Another one that looks funny, but it’s very very good to release tension in the face and the jaw. And the final one I want to show you for today is just a simple movement back and forth, where you literally shake out the tension in the face. You just go like this – you go side to side for a while. You want to keep your eyes closed for that one so you don’t get dizzy. And when you’re done you simply sit with your eyes closed and allow the facial muscles to relax into it.

So, if you can commit to doing these facial exercises just for 1-2 minutes for each exercise per day for a total of 5-10 minutes, you could markedly notice a difference in your facial appearence within a series of six weeks or two months. You’ll definitely notice a difference. Enjoy the video at the following link: http://video.about.com/yoga/How-to-Exercise-Your-Face-to-Look-Younger.htm

Chase Aston (International Makeup Artist) talks beauty

09/22/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Chase Aston has worked with some of the most beautiful people in the world.

Here, he shares his tips with us so we can all make sure that we look picture perfect for the next couple of months.

Which three beauty products should women not live without in their make-up bag?

A blusher or bronzer… Instantly adds warmth and depth to a dull, tired and sallow complexion.
Mascara… Apply once to make the eyes appear awakened, two coats for luscious lashes, three coats to both the top and bottom lashes for instant drop dead gorgeous lashes!
Eye definer… Use to shape and shade brows, adding structure and balance to a bare or nude face. Also to line, define, and elongate the eyes.

What is your ultimate beauty tip?

Blend!..Blend!…Blend!…. The only hard line that should be seen on the face is liquid liner; everything else should be seamlessly blended. I use The Body Shop Face and Body Brush (£16.00) and Blusher Brush (£12.00) for dusting, blending and sculpting the face.
What new beauty trends can we expect in the New Year?
Bold lips, especially satin cherry tones. Crimson, rich red, burgundy and deep chocolate brown hues adorned the lips on all the leading runways this year; these are the surprise shades for the New Year going into Spring/Summer 2012.
Peachy-Pink is also going to be big. To achieve ‘peaches-and-cream’ flushed cheeks, mix two shades of peach and pink together, swirl onto a large face and body brush and sweep onto the apple of the cheeks and along cheek bones for a fresh and flirty cheek look.
The femme fatale look is still strong for S/S2012. Black, smoky eyes which look dark and dangerous, smudged, smoked, lined and defined.
For the less adventurous you can also expect earth toned shadows. Taupe, fawn, camel, khaki and copper tones were also the top shades of the season. Sheer to smudged, smoky to dark, these are the hot shades for the new season.
Wear the shades with soft and creamy complexions, naturally flawless with a hint of radiance, bold brows, and a killer nail varnish in a contrasting hue for individuality.

You’ve worked with some big celebrities, who would you say has the best skin or face to work with?

My favourite supermodels who have amazing faces and skin to work on are, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Yasmin LeBon and Eva Herzigova. My all-time favourite celebrity faces would be Britney Spears, Clemence Peosy and Cameron Diaz. They all have beautiful, open features – full lips, high cheekbones and large open eyes – perfect for makeup artistry.

Home ingredients for a healthy, beautiful skin.

Avocado
Rich in Vitamin A and glutamine, avocado moisturises, helps repair and nourish the skin and hair. It’s packed with phytonutrients which give the skin a healthy glow.
How to use: Mash 1-2 avocados and add honey or an essential oil. Apply on skin and leave on for 20-30 minutes; rinse off with warm water.

Tea Tree Oil
It has antiseptic and porecleansing properties, and so is great to use for those who tend to have frequent breakouts. Used as a cleanser, it helps open clogged pores, clears bacteria from the skin’s surface and removes dead cells without causing harm to the skin. The oil also works as an antioxidant because it controls the free radicals in the body and boosts production of col lagen that helps skin remain youthful.
How to use: Mix a few drops of tea tree oil with fresh aloe vera gel and apply. Wash off after an hour. Tea tree oil can also help control dandruff. Mix a few drops in warm water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing and conditioning. It will keep the flakes away.

Coconut Oil
This is one of the best and easily procured natural moisturisers. It has a unique ability to penetrate the skin (both scalp and body) due to its small molecular size, and on application it replenishes the moisture in the upper layers of the skin due to the presence of lauric acid. Coconut oil is also said to have nourishing and anti-ageing properties.
How to use: Lightly massage all-over your body prior to your shower. It will keep your skin wellhydrated even after you use a shower gel/soap. And a champi with the oil greatly benefits your hair: A light massage even 10 minutes before you shampoo is good.

Green Tea Extract
It contains tannin, which acts as a soothing agent on skin. The polyphenols and alkaloid caffeine in green tea make it a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant product for skin. Research shows that green tea also protects the skin against damage caused by UV radiation. This in turn leads to a slow-down of the skin’s ageing process.
How to use: Brew green tea, chill and use as a toner. The decant can also be mixed with oatmeal and honey and used as a soothing and hydrating mask for all skin types. Leave on for half an hour, wash off.

Oatmeal
The porridge is packed with antiinflammatory properties and works for most skin types. It contains saponins which act as a cleansing agent, a moisturiser and an exfoliant.
How to use: Other than the pack mentioned above, you may also try this: Mix some ground oatmeal, an egg-white, lime juice and rosewater. Apply on face. Rinse off after 20 minutes. It works well for oily skin.

Diabetes Diet Grocery List

09/13/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Diabetes is a group of diseases distinguished by high blood-glucose levels that are caused by the body’s inability to produce or use insulin. Diabetes has three forms: Type 1, which most often is diagnosed in juveniles; Type 2, commonly caused by poor lifestyle choices; and gestational, which occurs in women during pregnancy. No matter which type of diabetes you have, all three require eating the proper foods to sustain a healthy weight and keep blood-sugar levels under control.
Fruits

Eat a wide and colorful variety of fruits. Fruit is nutritious and supplies your body with fiber as well as vitamins and minerals. Eat fruit or drink a small glass of fruit juice to curb your sweet cravings instead of giving in to sugary sweets like candy and cookies. Some common fruits to eat if you are diabetic are apples, bananas, cantaloupe, berries, grapes, grapefruit, oranges and dried fruit. Moreover, eat plenty of fresh, frozen, dried and canned fruit that does not have added sugar. When selecting canned fruits, be sure to choose those packed in natural fruit juice or light syrup. Always eat fruit in moderation; although fruit is healthy for you, it also contains high amounts of carbohydrates and sugar.

Vegetables
Include in your diet a wide variety of vegetables that are colorful. Eat non-starchy vegetables such as spinach, carrots, broccoli or green beans. Some other great vegetable choices include green, red or yellow peppers, onions, tomatoes, celery and artichokes. Shop for fresh or frozen vegetables that do not contain sodium or added preservatives.

Lean Meats
Great sources of protein include lean meats and meat substitutes such as soy. Choose meats that are low in fat and saturated fats. Eat plenty of meals that include dried beans, such as black, lima and pinto beans; legumes; peas; and lentils. If you prefer your protein as fish or seafood, look for flounder, salmon, tuna, tilapia, clams, crab and lobster. Also, when shopping for meats, include poultry–chicken and turkey–and lean beef such as sirloin. Veal and lamb chops are great options as well.

Whole Grains
Eat whole wheat or whole grain breads, pastas and cereals that are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. Refrain from buying products that contain bleached and enriched flour. Bleached flour contains additives that diminish the natural grains. Enriched flour has had nutrients removed and only some of them are replaced. Healthy choices for whole grains are brown rice, whole oats or oatmeal, whole wheat flour, fat-free re-fried beans, vegetarian baked beans and popcorn.

Dairy
The best choice for milk products are nonfat or low fat milk, yogurt and cheese. Buy plain soy milk to reduce sugar intake, and try to stick with natural cheeses versus processed cheese products.

Best yoga exercises for tummy reduction

09/12/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

One of the most basic yoga exercises that focus on the stomach, the cobra pose is an incredibly effective yet easy way to trim down the abdominal fat. If done along with other yoga practices, the cobra pose can rather be extremely beneficial and result-oriented. However, people who have a stiff or rigid back should avoid this pose unless their personal doctor has recommended or advised them to do so.

Technique

Foremost, lay down on the floor on your tummy and position both your hands on the ground, just next to your pectoral muscles.

Put your hands with palms down beneath the shoulders and inhale. However, make sure your navel is touching the floor, with the chest slightly lifted and head upwards. Here, your back should be arching. Now, stretch the body as much as possible but comfortably.

Exhale while slowly and steadily lowering your upper body to the body. You can loosen up for a couple of minutes and then repeat the pose for two to five times.

Benefits and cautions

The cobra pose helps people strengthen their core abdominal muscles and, most importantly, trim down their tummy fat. In addition to this, the yoga form also relaxes menstrual irregularities, back aches and constipation problems whilst toning the uterus, ovaries and liver. Nevertheless, the pose should not be performed by those who have an overactive thyroid, hernia or peptic ulcer. Women who are pregnant should also avoid the cobra pose.

Green tea boosts memory

09/10/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Scientists now have an explanation for why green tea is good for the brain– it lies in the chemical properties that affect the production of brain cells, improving memory and spatial learning.

“Green tea is a popular beverage across the world,” said Yun Bai, professor from the Third Military Medical University, Chongqing, China. “There has been plenty of scientific attention on its use in helping prevent cardiovascular diseases, but now there is emerging evidence that its chemical properties may impact cellular mechanisms in the brain.”

Yun’s team focused on the organic chemical EGCG, (epigallocatechin-3 gallate) a key property of green tea. While EGCG is a known antioxidant, the team believed it can also have a beneficial effect against age-related degenerative diseases, the journal Molecular Nutrition and Food Research reports. “We proposed that EGCG can improve cognitive function by impacting the generation of neuron cells, a process known as neurogenesis,” said Yun.

“We focused our research on the hippocampus, the part of the brain which processes information from short-term to long-term memory.” The team found that ECGC boosts the production of neural progenitor cells, which like stem cells can adapt, or differentiate, into various types of cells. The team then used lab mice to discover if this increased cell production gave an advantage to memory or spatial learning, according to a Medical University statement.

“We ran tests on two groups of mice, one which had imbibed ECGC and a control group (without ECGC),” said Yun. “First the mice were trained for three days to find a visible platform in their maze. Then they were trained for seven days to find a hidden platform.”

The team found that the ECGC treated mice required less time to find the hidden platform. Overall the results revealed that EGCG enhances learning and memory by improving object recognition and spatial memory.

“I’m happy to say that my ovarian cyst is a thing of the
past and the constant pain and worrying are over."- Elizabeth Marr

“Dear Carol,
I am so thankful and thrilled to know that someone had found a solution to such a disturbing problem in this country! There are too many women that are suffering from this condition! About a year ago I was diagnosed with a 2.6″ cyst and have found your site but I wasn’t sure if your system would help me. I was paralyzed with fear.
For months I struggled with the pain using all kinds of prescription pain relievers that made me feel worse. One particular day when the pain reached a new limit, I decided to order your program and the results were nothing short of incredible. You have provided me the support I needed to refuse surgery at that time and try the holistic all natural approach.

Now, I’m happy to say that my ovarian cyst is a thing of the past and the constant pain and worrying are over…I also feel so alive and energized. It’s remarkable. That’s a new beginning for me. My doctor was intrigued when I told her about your program, she lifted her eyebrow more than one time but the results of the ultrasound speak for themselves.

Carol, I want to thank you for sharing this wonderful program I really hope every woman finds this invaluable information. I feel so rejuvenated and lucky to have found your system. I am also amazed and thankful that your product worked so fast and well. ”

God bless you!”

I wanted to come back on this and let everyone know how it worked- IT CURED ALL MY BACK PAIN 100%- it is a God given cure for sure! It took me about 21 days of doing it instead of 7 days as it advertised, but it really worked! Thank you Lord that I am not in pain anymore and that I can work again- I was practically in the bed or sitting all the time before-now I can live again! I am 35 weeks pregnant now and in no pain! I had this pain on and off for about 8 years- the worse during this pregnancy and now it is 100% gone! Tip- I found it was better to do this treatment myself instead of having my husband do it- my husband did it for me for 11 days (and it got a little better but wasn’t going away completely) and then I started doing it myself so I could make sure I got the right spot and then it went away completely! So I think it is better if you can do it yourself.

For me its been almost three years that I’ve had to endure excruciating sciatic pain. Let me tell you I hate it! At first I went to the doctors only to have them basically tell me they can’t help me at all, and to charge me ridiculous amounts of money for pills that don’t do anything besides put you to sleep; so when you do wake up you’re in even more pain! That’s when I quickly learned I needed to find a natural cure. I knew there was one out there but had no idea what it was. I ended up trying to work on my posture which helped for a bit but my pain never went away entirely. Gradually my pain worsened until present time. Then last week I came across this site. At first I didn’t believe it but the testimonials swayed me. I didn’t but the book immediately but came back after becoming desperate to stop the pain. So I bought the book and read it, then immediately tried the tanagra which seemed typo easy to actually do anything. But within minutes I felt my pain lessen! I’m only three days into it but I feel myself physically becoming a normal person again and I love it! I can’t describe how happy I am to have this info now! And I can finally get proper sleep!

I’m shocked! After one 8-minute treatment, there is a vast improvement in my severe sciatica pain. It’s not totally gone yet, but I can highly recommend your book already. I know with a few more days of self treatment, I’ll finally be able to say good bye to this very painful condition, and play with my son again. Thank you so much!

Amazon introduces new Kindle HD tablets, e-reader

09/08/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Online retail giant Amazon introduced a new suite of its Kindle devices, from 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet computer to e-reader Kindle Paperwhite with front-lit display. Amazon unveiled larger Kindle Fire tablets, challenging Apple Inc’s dominant iPad with lower prices and a trove of digital content that Amazon hopes will win it a bigger share of the booming tablet market. The debut of Kindle Fire HD is seen as Amazon’s new strategy to step up competition against Apple, which is expected to introduce a smaller iPad, possibly called ‘iPad Mini’.

The premium Kindle Fire HD has a 1920-by-1200 resolution screen, lagging Apple’s so-called ‘retina’ display. At 8.9 inches, it is also slightly smaller than the iPad’s screen.

Kindle Fire HD has dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus, making it the first to have such a feature on the tablet market.

It also has a feature called WhisperSync Voice, allowing users to sync between an audio book and the text version of the book.

Organic foods has no health benefits than conventional foods

09/08/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Organic foods has no health benefits

A new study from Stanford University has found little evidence of health benefits from organic foods in comparison to conventionally grown products.

Senior author of the study, Dena Bravata, MD, MS, has been quoted as saying “There isn’t much difference between organic and conventional foods, if you’re an adult and making a decision based solely on your health.”

According to reports, a team led by Bravata, a senior affiliate with Stanford’s Center for Health Policy, and Crystal Smith-Spangler, MD, MS, an instructor in the school’s Division of General Medical Disciplines and a physician-investigator at VA Palo Alto Health Care System, did the most comprehensive meta-analysis to date of existing studies comparing organic and conventional foods.

The team reportedly failed to find strong evidence that organic foods are more nutritious or carry fewer health risks than conventional alternatives, though consumption of organic foods can reduce the risk of pesticide exposure.

The researchers reportedly sifted through thousands of papers and identified 237 of the most relevant to analyze. Those included 17 studies (six of which were randomized clinical trials) of populations consuming organic and conventional diets, and 223 studies that compared either the nutrient levels or the bacterial, fungal or pesticide contamination of various products (fruits, vegetables, grains, meats, milk, poultry, and eggs) grown organically and conventionally, the report added.

After analyzing the data, the researchers came to a conclusion that there was a little difference in health benefits between organic and conventional foods, the report said, adding that no consistent differences were seen in the vitamin content of organic products, and only one nutrient — phosphorus — was significantly higher in organic versus conventionally grown produce (and the researchers note that because few people have phosphorous deficiency, this has little clinical significance).

There was also no difference in protein or fat content between organic and conventional milk, though evidence from a limited number of studies suggested that organic milk may contain significantly higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, the report said.

“While researchers found that organic produce is 30 percent less likely to be contaminated with pesticides than conventional fruits and vegetables, organic foods are not necessarily 100 percent free of pesticides,” the report added.

It may be noted that the finding will be published in the latest issue of Annals of Internal Medicine.

7 Foods that burn fat

09/01/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

Body fat is an ugly truth of life for most Indian men. Our lifestyle is such that it becomes almost impossible to avoid it. Just sweating out in the gym day and night is not enough to reach your goal of losing your body fat when your mother is busy feeding you the butter-laced aloo ka parantha. Along with a healthy workout, food also plays a crucial role in reducing body fat. Here are 7 foods that help in burning fat.

1. Eggs

Eggs are known to be high in protein which burns fat faster than other fatty foods. It also contains Vitamin B12, 8 minerals, iron, calcium and other macro-nutrients, which aid the body in metabolizing fat.

2. Fish

Instead of reaching for your chicken curry next time, try opting for fish. Like eggs, fish is also a protein-rich food that burns more fat while being digested instead of carbohydrates or fats. They also contain Omega 3s which prevent the build-up of stress chemicals that induce fat abs especially tuna, salmon, mackerel, swordfish and flounder.

3. Green Tea

Green tea is almost like a magical drink that has the power to keep most health problems at bay. It keeps those extra inches away by preventing fats from getting absorbed by the body. Drinking a cup of green tea everyday goes a long way in helping you achieve a healthy life.

4. Oatmeal

Oatmeal not only helps in cutting down the fat content but its rich fiber content helps in the reduction of cholesterol. It also stays for a longer period in the stomach which takes care of your hunger pangs. However, its better to opt for a natural sweetener like honey instead of sugar.

5. Dairy Products

Dairy products are rich in calcium which is very effective in burning fat and even preventing its formation in the body. The amount of calcium in a person’s body indicates how easily one gains fat. The more calcium present in your body, the easier it is to burn

6. Berries

Berries, as we all know, are fiber-rich fruits. Raspberries are said to contain 8 grams of fiber in a cup. Strawberries have lower sugar content than other fruits while also being rich in in Vitamin C, which boosts metabolism in the body.Berries also have another component called pectin which force the fats to release their fat cells.

7. Green Vegetables

Green Vegetables have been tried and tested in their various health benefits. You should stop trying to shrink away from adding them into your diet as they have the power to reduce your waist size. Amongst the green vegetables, give special attention to spinach, cabbage and beans. Including a lot of salads into your everyday meal plan means getting closer to reducing the body’s fat absorption.

Crazy Beauty Rituals Money Can Buy

09/01/12 | by Ajit | Categories: Diseases

nullImage Courtesy: Reuters

1. Critter alert

Snakes on your back
If exotic massages are your poison, you might want to give this a go the next time you’re in Israel. Visit Ada Barak’s place for a snake massage, where for just Rs 5,000 you can have snakes —big ones for a deep-tissue effect and small ones for fluttery fingers — slither over your back for a ‘relaxing’ afternoon.

Can you pass the mucus please?
This goo is good. The La Bella Cosmetic Gel, a beauty product from Chile, contains snail mucus, or rather snail slime. While it may sound gross, the product claims to take away scars and protect skin from ageing, as apparently, snail goo is actually a powerful antioxidant. Perhaps this is why the beautiful French women swear by their escargot.

Ants in my shower
If overripe fruits and ants sound like an al fresco nightmare, try the Queen Ant Royal Jelly and Expired Fruits Wash from Japan. Why, you ask? Well, it contains royal ant jelly and rotten fruits; the formic acid from the ant jelly is supposed to be refreshing and cleansing while the AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) from the fruits exfoliate the skin. Get it for about Rs 1,000 for a tiny 75 ml pouch.

2. This little piggy

Pig placenta anyone?
The slimy afterbirth of pigs is now being packaged and sold in Japan as a beauty wonder drink. Full of nutrients, hormones and minerals, this is one beauty secret catching rage. At about Rs 500 for a 30 ml vial, this doesn’t come cheap, but neither does the eternal, if gross, quest for beauty.

Pig’s feet diet
The key ingredient in pig’s feet is collagen, which is a protein that maintains skin and muscle tone. So instead of applying it in the form of creams or injecting it directly, eating pig’s feet is being
touted as an edible way of getting more collagen.

3. Private practices

Butter bottom
Butter lovers can try the traditional Ethiopian butter massage. It starts with a full body and hair massage with oodles of butter. Then, you are asked to apply more pats of butter, down there. Finally, you sit covered up with blankets over a hole in the ground from which smoke is streaming, to steam. This supposedly tightens up the vaginal muscles, especially after delivery.

Bleach it down
Inspired by porn stars, the trend of lightening the skin tone down there has become a big fad. Most spas in America and Europe offer bleaching for your nether regions, where, after a Brazilian wax, a lightening acid is applied to the skin. They also give you a bleach cream for further home use.

Celebs do the darndest things

Madonna and Eva Longoria reportedly use a face cream made with human placenta to keep their skin looking youthful. Botox sounds good in comparison.
Teri Hatcher uses red wine for her daily bath. Beats Mariah Carey’s demands for mineral water for her and her pooch to bathe in.
Halle Berry uses coffee grounds to exfoliate her bottom.
Amy Winehouse apparently rubbed her own urine on her face every morning as part of her daily ritual.
